Panská Lhota: Scientific-research station of the Institute of Archaeology and Museology

The Panská Lhota experimental archaeological centre provides the infrastructure for archaeological experiments, workshops and conferences as well as the teaching of archaeology. The facilities in the centre are made up of a completely furnished conference room seating 100 people, accommodation for researchers, a depository, open-air spaces and an equipped kitchen for preparing refreshments.

The equipped laboratories are fully available during workshops and for teaching.

We regularly organise

• Willage Werkstatt: An international conference dedicated to village settlements and their archaeological prospecting and excavation. The interdisciplinary participation at the workshop ensures a multi-disciplinary approach to learning about the village structure and the buildings.
• Ceramics Workshop: An international working meeting of researchers specialising in medieval ceramics. The workshop consists of blocks of lectures and a practical experimental programme with the making of ceramic vessels using different techniques and firing them in reconstructed medieval pottery kilns of various types. In the manufacture of ceramic shapes, verification of the manufacturing procedures and the firing itself we collaborate with LEA in Mayen. RGZM: Labor für Experimentelle Archäologie (LEA)
